The LACEA’s Health Economics network will bring together economists and other social scientist from Latin America and the Caribbean and other parts of the world working on health issues in order to build a community of practice to promote quality research in health economics in LAC and contribute towards stronger health systems.

Health Economics Network

The LACEA Health Economics Network (LAHEN), together with the Research Institute for Development, Growth and Economics (RIDGE), and the University of the West Indies are pleased to announce a call for papers for the Workshop on Health Economics to be held in person in Barbados on 20-21 May 2026, along with other Applied Micro workshops. Full papers, written in English, must be submitted for consideration for the meeting. Authors will be able to select a first and second preference of workshops to present the paper, but papers will only be presented once. The call will be open until January 15, 2026.

  1. You are invited to sign up to LAHEN’s (Latin American Health Economics Network) mailing list if you are interested in receiving information about the network’s and other activities.
  2. The International Health Economics Association (IHEA) holds several Special Interest Groups (SIGs), which function as spaces for exchange, collaboration, and development of specific research agendas within the field. They are a good opportunity to connect with colleagues from other countries, participate in thematic seminars, organize coordinated sessions for conferences, propose activities, and follow current discussions in the field. All active SIGs within IHEA can be accessed through the following link.

    IHEA’s Risky Behaviors SIG organizes monthly webinars by established researchers on substance use and abuse, obesity, violence, risky sexual behaviors, physical activity, self-harm and suicide, among other topics. Recordings of the webinars are available here and can be used for teaching purposes. To stay informed about IHEA activities and those of each SIGs, we suggest subscribing to the IHEA newsletter.
